TransLeather™ is an animal and plastic-free leather alternative made from unwanted roots, fruits, and vegetables processed by natural occuring bacteria.
TransLeather™ behaves and feels just like traditional top grain leather, but without environmental and health sacrifices.
Compostable, no tests done yet
Just like traditional leather Transleather™ can be used for handbags, jackets, shoes and interior objects.
The process starts by feeding plant based byproducts or waste to naturally occurring microbes. By using vertical farming techniques these microbes convert the food waste into leather like material in a matter of days. The material is harvested, dried and turned into textile.
Make Grow Lab produces TransLeather™ and it's sister product Scoby in their lab in Poland.
